  1. It is a fine line between what is appropriate and what is not. It is sad that there are animals all over the world that are not being taken care of. (Summer)

  2. I have a hard time looking at pictures of these animals. They look so sad and I am sure that is their typical facial expression, but still. As I read the article I struggles with the statements about the animals physical features. As much as I love the zoo and the ability to see the animals so close, I am still upset with how they are treated. I read of one instance where a baby elephant died and the zoo workers threw it away. I also see how much we are building in animal territories and they are paying the price. How often do you see a dead deer in the road?

  3. I am all for having a zoo in the city for people to look at animals. But that is going to far. Most of those cages are extremely small and most of the animals are stuck inside most of the time. I know I go crazy when I am stuck inside all the time. Those poor animals have got to be going crazy stuck inside with a cement floor and not in a natural like habitat.

  4. How sad! Their little faces kill me! Those animals look miserable and definitely need to be free outdoors. It's a good reminder to us all to not let our students feel like these animals...trapped and lifeless. :(

  6. I have mixed feelings about animals in captivity and it makes it difficult for me to go to the zoo sometimes. I think it is important for people to see animals in zoo's and develop an appreciation for them so that they want to save them in their natural habitat. It is nice to go to places like the San Diego Safari Park where the animals are free to roam but this situation is deplorable. However, I think we need to keep in mind that not only are there no animals rights in countries like this but human rights are not exactly up to our standards.(Jane)
